Cadair Idris & Mawddach Estuary

December 14th, 2010

Here is a recent commission for the recently refurbished Cross FoXes near Dolgellau.
This view is looking across the Mawddach estuary at the beast that is Cadair Idris. Its not one peak as such but a huge hunk of rock with a few dotted around it and a couple of very nice glacial lakes. Not the highest mountain range in Wales but certainly one of the biggest in terms of area.

You can click on the image above and see it bigger on my Flickr stream, but here’s the thing, it just doesn’t do it justice! Really you NEED to see this printed. The Cross FoXes is home to two 1.3m long fine art prints and a floor to ceiling wall paper print. Go for a drive, check it out and have some ace food.

Llandegla and Coed y Brenin

November 20th, 2010

Couple of new shots from North Wales. First image is a tree we came across on a walk in Coed Llandegla, some awesome colours and detail in the foliage and lichen. Second shot is a new one from Afon Wen in Coed y Brenin. Making a little series of this river, the blue rock is pretty awesome.

Llyn Cau

November 3rd, 2010

Recent(ish) photo of Llyn Cau on the south side of Cadair Idris in southern Snowdonia. This was shot for a restaurant/hotel that is opening really close to the mountain, this didn’t get chosen but others did, which will feature on here as soon as the project is completed and prints are in there.

The lake is said to bottomless and home to a monster called a Afanc, an Welsh water dragon. Legend has it King Arthur captured the Afanc and tying it behind his horse, he dragged it to Llyn Cau, where he released it.

Nant Idwal

October 25th, 2010

Recent from Snowdonia. These are the falls at the end of Nant Idwal which feed into the Ogwen falls. You can just see Y Garn in the cloud in the distance and to the left, Castell y Geifr, which is welsh for Castle of the Goats!! The goats round here are bad ass, they deserve a castle!!

Recent holiday snaps

September 28th, 2010

Few shots from a recent trip to Valencia. Two from Reserva Muela de Cortes area near Real de Montroi, and one of the lovely science museum designed by Calatrava.

Llyn LLydaw, Snowdon

September 24th, 2010

Recent shot of Snowdon across Llyn Llydaw. This is part of a book project I’m trying to put together but I think I’ll reshoot this as the haze bothers me. Still a nice view. I think it looks a little painting like!

Oldie but a goodie

September 21st, 2010

I’ve been shooting panoramics for about a year or two now, and have spent some time messing with full HDR spheres. There are some I’ve shot on the fab website. Below is one of my favs, the Pierhead on a hot balmy night last year.

Slate Chaos

August 31st, 2010

The somewhat natural organised chaos of the remains of a slate quarry. This is the original hill side but stripped for decent slate.

When I was testing the Sealskinz!

The shot I was taking in the Sealskinz video.

Clear Cadair Idris

So finally seem to have got a bit of luck with this commission shooting Cadair Idris. The weather gods decided to give me a break in the cloud for a few hours and I made the most of it. According to the locals its pronounced Cader!!! I need to learn some welsh.
